Almost a hundred and fifty

The month of October has been good at the site. Almost 150 unique visitors this month and growing. I've started a blog on the site which details my efforts to "ride the vehicle" of Affiliate Marketing into my retirement. You can find it at the site!

The Canadian guy that had myretirementproject.com has bailed! He's trying to sell the domain name for over $3000! My site has the number 1 ranking on Google search, right now.

Stuff that I've paid hundreds to acquire, I'm posting for free!

If your retirement isn't going the way you planned.............check it out.

Tell any of your baby-boomer friends about the site....we're all in this together!

Latest Update

I don't want anyone to think that I've abandoned writing a blog in parallel to my site at www.my-retirement-project.com. I initiated a new blog to chronicle my efforts on this blogging site. Unfortunately, Google decided that something didn't fit their rules and shut it down for me. Since that time, I've begun a blog on the .com site itself. You can check it out here. I started on the 18th of October and will continue on a daily basis on any day that I am here. Another week off is coming in November.

A Little Help

Procrastination is the biggest factor leading to failure. As the "Plan" page on the website says: Any plan is a failure if it is not put into action. Practicing the "Daily Declarations" both morning and night is a method of halting procrastination, but I'm always open to get help from anywhere I can.

I just got an email from a guy, living in Japan, which offered a 37 page inspirational e-book. The best part is that it is free!
His name is Darren L Carter. He was talking about his neighbor, an atomic bomb survivor. This man has been so inspirational to Darren that he wrote a book about all of the advice that the neighbor gave him. The book is all about overcoming your failures and obstacles in order to build a better life for yourself. It's called, "Overcome, Build, Achieve: Personal Wisdom from an Atomic Bomb Survivor."

I told you a long time ago that I would share all that I had found, so if you want to check it out for yourself, Click Here.

A little knowledge about making money on the Internet

As you know if you have read any of my rants, I have decided to use Internet marketing as the vehicle for financing my retirement. After three years of study and a little success, I've decided to share some of the concepts I have learned, without the usual charges attached.

I've just started today and the new blog is: http://e-moneyinthebank.blogspot.com/

Let's make some money

Time once again to knock off the vacation and get to work at trying to make some money. I just got back from the last week of vacation of the summer. The lake was beautiful and the weather comfortable.

I've been studying for so long that I should have my masters in internet advertising by now, so it's time to put some of it into action.

I'm going to the website today and do some revamping. You can check it out at www.my-retirement-project.com. See you over there. I'll be back here often from now on....................

Daily posts?

I was beginning to get into the habit of posting on a daily basis. That is, until I checked the "traffic tracker" which has been installed for this blog. Since the traffic at this time is much lower than I would have hoped, I will begin posting on an
intermittent basis for a while...............

Which Web Hosting Company is the Right One?

There are many companies which offer web hosting at variable rates. At a minimum, I found one with a monthly service. Most ask for a year or two upfront. When you contract for a longer period of time, the monthly payment figured in the contract will be lower.

If you enter the words "web hosting" into Google, you will be taken to www.findmyhosting.com. This is the first "natural" listing below the paid listings. They offer ten sites which they have rated from one to ten. From there, you can go to each web hosting company and see exactly what they offer.

www.my-retirement-project.com costs me $120.00 a year + a yearly renewal for the dot com. I have two sites and both are with the same company and cost the same for the year. The other one has no yearly renewal but it is not a dot.com. The second site is strictly a personal picture site for my vacations so my friends can see what's going on.

A prerequisite for Affiliate Marketing is a web site or several web sites. This is a decision which I must make in the next week. I will identify my hosting company and explain why I chose them after the contract is fulfilled.

Hump Day

Wednesday is the day. I passed enough courses and milestones to reach a Class 5 designation. Ten is the highest, so I'm half way there!

I created a new blog yesterday to deal with part of the regimen of Affiliate Marketing. Author Napoleon Hill, researching his book in the 30s, discovered that about 500 of the richest people of the time had used a similar strategy to gain their success and wealth. In the new blog, I will detail the how and why of the method. Join us at:

Building a Web Page

Today's training is about building a web page for the Affiliate Marketing business. In a later post, I will detail a few companies that sell hosting services. I have three or four in mind at this point. I will tell you which one I chose but your choice is your own if you are interested.

In another segment of the retirement equation, the payment on my credit card just jumped by $100. I checked and the interest rate has been increased by more than 7% since last month. I am writing a letter to the credit card company to notify them that I am removing the monthly accounts, some of them Internet involved, from the card and will dispose of it as soon as possible. Additionally, I will be revealing the name of the company so others will not be subjected to the same treatment. I received no prior notice of the raise. Additionally, I was charged interest on a cash withdrawal which actually wasn't a cash withdrawal. UB charged $5 to make a deposit in my account. It was shown as a cash withdrawal on the credit card. Actually it occurred more than a year ago. How long does it take to pay off $5 when making timely payments each month? Stand by "credit card company"!

See you tomorrow.............

Another day in paradise

In addition to being a subtle way to add income to your retirement, affiliate marketing also qualifies you for tax deductions from the Fed and State income tax. Correct me if I am wrong, but that would be another way to save money. You may begin as a sole proprietor and upgrade that standing as your business grows.

I had seen the term LLC many times but had no understanding what it entailed. The course I took today described it as more than a DBA but less than a corporation. The individual or individuals composing the LLC show the income on their personal returns. LLC stands for limited liability company. The owners are personally shielded from the company but unlike a corporation, the taxes are levied on the owners and not the LLC.

I've reached level 4 of 10 in my rating in affiliate marketing. By the end of tomorrow, I hope to be at level 5. In order to get to level six, I must have daily traffic to my website equaling 3000 hits or more. That could take some extra effort.

Have a good evening...................

TGIF

Well, I completed another three courses this evening.

Affiliate Marketing has been an online business for the last 14 years. It is based on "referral marketing". It is governed by local, state and federal authorities. This is a great business for the retired person to use to supplement Social Security and retirement benefits. You decide how much you want to accomplish and limit yourself to that. I don't know personally yet but I am told that it can be much more lucrative if more time and energy is applied. Therefore, after age 66, in my case, I can really go for it. My attitude is: why wait. If I made enough to negate all of my social security payments then I guess I would be a happy camper. That would mean that I could earn $14, 160 before it started cutting into my benefits. Without becoming too factual, I could then earn in excess of another $25,000, bringing the total to nearly $40,000 for the year. That's enough incentive for me to continue my studies over the weekend.

You have a good weekend.....I'll post again on Monday

Affiliate Marketing Course Makeup

Today, I got my act together! I spent nearly five hours studying and taking tests to confirm I comprehend the material. I completed five courses today, making up for my lack of production yesterday. I am back on schedule. I have now completed 44% of the 300% necessary to finish the course.

When I placed the banner ad to the left, I had no knowledge that the course registration was closed. If you scroll down and enter your email address, you will be notified when it opens again.

I have discovered in the last few days, that a lot of the business of Affiliate Marketing can be accomplished without any expense, other than time. This is good news, since I am trying to return to, or exceed my previous financial status.

I seem to be at the top of the rankings for "my retirement project" on Google. I checked Yahoo today and couldn't find anything! What's up with that?

I ping the blog each time I add new content. If you have a blog, you can do the same for free at: King Ping........www.kping.com.

Until tomorrow...........take care...................

Affiliate Marketing.....Day Two

Today, I went back and reviewed some of what I had learned yesterday. As mentioned yesterday, when writing that post, I was taking a break from the "Finding Products" course. I went back, completed it and then took the test and passed. Then today, I completed a course known as Traffic Basics: Types of Traffic. I had expected to complete two more courses today, but got sidetracked! I took the test and confirmed that I had passed the Traffic Basics course.

Today, I probably spent about an hour studying. Yesterday, as mentioned, I was there for more than five hours. Thus far, I have completed 12% of the 300% of the course!! Obviously, to finish in March, more time needs to be expended.

Check back tomorrow for the next post...........

Affiliate Marketing

I have decided to continue in my education of Affiliate Marketing on the Internet. Today I have studied and passed tests confirming my understanding of monetization: earning commissions and Email ethics and SPAM legislation. I'm taking a little break by writing this while completing Finding Products. I have committed about 5 hours so far today to studying. The "Plan" is to complete the entire course by the end of March.

Although I am receiving SSN payments, I still need additional funds to continue my lifestyle as it has been for the past 15 years.

The blog, http://boomer-help.blogspot.com contains information pertaining to Social Security. Like this blog, it is also affiliated with www.my-retirement-project.com.

Back tomorrow..............

2010, the year of success

Starting today and continuing through the year, I will be putting into effect some or all of the techniques and processes that I have been studying. I am still deeply involved in my studies but it seems appropriate that I should begin to receive some compensation for the hours that I have spent trying to learn the intricacies of the Internet.
